10.01.06 Kaura Profile in Zero Magazine-October 2006 Issue.

Kaura's experiences abroad have added to their unique sound, and many consider them to be the love child of Kyuss and Tool, if you will. And that's not too far fetched considering that Kaura were invited to open for Tool on their September 2nd show in Sacramento, an honor few can boast...Today the band is enjoying the perks of popularity thanks to their hit song 'One Becomes Two', which may even inspire you to finally remove Tool's '10,000 Days' from your car stereo and replace it with Kaura's 2006 demo.

The songs have energy and purpose, the lyrics offer hope and compassion, but do not preach to the listener. Each song not only builds to a climax but delivers on that promise and provides a release and closure.

12.19.05 Kaura interviewed about their world travels in Campus Circle

...a hard rock band with a metaphysical edge. Don't worry, these guys don't preach on stage or give heartfelt sermons on how to love your fellow brother or sister. What they do is create music that leaves you feeling good.

10.22.05 Kaura interviewed on NAMM's The Music Edge

Vision is what is most remarkable about Kaura. Both Guess and Jones talk excitedly about their project as an all-encompassing art form, extending from their music to future album covers, stage lighting, and even personal image... Jones and Guess are artists, and the seriousness with which they approach their craft is quickly evident...More importantly, Kaurašs sound is inviting enough to attract a broad audience.

9.12.05 Kaura's EP review in Metal Mayhem

Oh Man! If this EP is just a taster of things to come, I predict big things lurking not too far in the distance for these guys!...Kaura try new things and the outcome is just brilliant...It's nice to hear a band that actually tries to be different! One to definately watch!

07.05.05 Kaura named Band of the Month on The Edge Underground

This E.P brings a hard entrance that impacts the ear, but the strong soothing vocal captures what is the future of the Alternative music scene...They use the right element of different influences at the right time. The time is perfect; the structure of the song is outstanding. The refreshing character that the band has, is that it doesnšt drag the same 'inspired' riffs and sound throughout the EP and instead varies the tone. It's been a long time since I have been excited about a sound that I can connect with...I think I have been inspired.

--The Edge Underground

06.18.05 Kaura Reviewed on Cosmik Debris

The consistent element is the ethereal vibe that is central to all five songs on this EP, and if you're moved by such things there's a good chance you'll find yourself at least somewhat smitten. 'Dividing Lines' should be good enough to make you a fanatic, in fact... Perhaps the greatest compliment I can pay them is this: I can't tell you who they sound like because every time I think I've almost detected a strong influence, something blows my theory out of the water. I love when that happens.

06.14.05 Kaura reviewed in June Issue of Music Matters

Kaura isn't hard rock. They're something else. Something good. Kaura has taken their high-art-gone-hard rock sound to some place much more enticing, imbuing their Queens of The Stone Age meets A Perfect Circle anthems with reaching themes AND freaking Paz Lenchantin...The band's EP is radio-ready rock with filaments of ethereal effects and minor chord melodies that help you space out while stuck in So Cal traffic...couple this with their progressive lyrical themes, and I'd be inclined to say that Kaura's commercial appeal yet seemingly visionary approach is the approximate recipe for a minor rock radio takeover...the band's uncanny audio appeal is their greatest achievement. While melding high concept art and haunting ancient instruments with good old fashion commercial appeal could be an arduous task for lesser bands, Kaura have managed to seemlessly knit a masterful debut effort. They have established that the ability to be universally appealing while hinting at conceptual cleverness is an asset for a band whose future, while tinged with a bit of patchouli and ganja, is undoubtedly bright.

06.09.05 Kaura reviewed in Bite Me! 'Zine

Kaura blends various cultural influences into the mix and tops it off with a heaping scoop of skilled musicianship. The end result is a sound that is both striking and distinctive... Kaura's foundation may be melodic hard rock, but in the end they offer the listener a whole lot more.

--Bite Me!

06.08.05Kaura reviewed on New Noise

The result is a melodic but guitar driven sound. It's the rock equivalent of FairTrade coffee - familiar but with added karma.

--New Noise

06.06.05 Kaura reviewed on Antimusic

The bottom line is that Kaura are ready made hit makers but accomplish it with a bit more credibility than most and don't fall into the trap of letting style define or limit them... a rather startling and ballsy move in an age of cookie-cutter artists, but one of this band's biggest strengths.

--Antimusic

They do offer something refreshing and unlike anything else currently in existence. I hope this EP is a sign of things to come when their full length does come to fruition.

05.19.05 Kaura reviewed on Ninehertz UK

First class stuff, and very impressive for such a new band...certainly an EP that leaves you wanting to hear what the band have in store for their first full length release. In the meantime, fans of Tool, Dredg, A Perfect Circle and heavy, melodic rock in general should track down a copy of this CD and get tickets if the band plays near them...Live, the band should be spectacular.

--Ninehertz UK

05.17.05 Kaura reviewed on Adequacy

In most instances on this five-song EP you wouldnšt necessarily know exactly what instruments you are hearing because this duo clearly put great care into their arrangements so that the various sounds blend together. The result is rich tapestry woven from the likes of electric guitar and tabla - done so well you canšt imagine this sounding any other way...Kaurašs vision is intriguing for those tired of the same old formulaic rock...these guys are off to an interesting start and Išll be looking forward to a full-length release from them in the near future.

--Delusions of Adequacy

05.13.05 Kaura reviewed in Bullz Eye

What makes these guys stand out is that their travels to exotic places like Thailand and Bali convinced them to infuse hammered dulcimers, gamelan bells and tribal beats into their own melodic songs. Influenced by powerhouses like Tool and Queens of the Stone Age, Kaura already had a good foundation and is clearly a band to keep an eye on.

--Bullz Eye magazine

05.09.05 Kaura reviewed in Rough Edge

There's a U2 feel to the band's songwriting and everything is beautifully produced and well-executed...I very much look forward to hearing more from Kaura because I like their bold exploration.

05.05.05 Kaura Reviewed on The Daily Vault

While I can't say Kaura is the best release of 2005-it's too early in the year for that, I can say that of the releases I've heard so far, Kaura is one of the best. Kaura joins my list of personal favorite...I will remember Kaura in December when I write my Best of 2005 article...Rating=A.

The 5 songs on this E.P sound great with great variation and the arrangements are brilliant...If you are a fan of guitar-driven modern rock, then Kaura is definitely something for you, because there are lots of wonderful guitar riffs all over this E.P.
